Twilight's Memory

Twilight drifting in the middle of silence
like a memory. A thousand faces, that marching
forward. I can hear the constant muttering.
I can see the blur. I can taste it on my tongue.
I bite my nails and stare.

Oh, if I could touch you.
If I could feel you.
If I could touch you once again—now,
now I wouldn’t know me.

Oh, if I could touch you…
If I could feel you…
I wouldn’t be here.
No, I wouldn’t be here.

At some point, the fan weeds into my sensory—
dark as dark can get, sitting here.
At some point, you get up to turn on the light.
At some point, you turn on that light, yet,
I bite my nails and stare.

Oh, if I could touch you.
If I could feel you.
If I could touch you once again—now,
now I wouldn’t know me.

Oh, if I could touch you…
If I could feel you…
I wouldn’t be here.
No, I wouldn’t be here.
